The world’s largest all-electric glass melter, with a capacity of over 250 tonnes per day, was designed and commissioned by Electroglass in late 2008, comfortably exceeding its target performance levels in terms of energy efficiency, furnace output and glass quality. Based on current levels of interest and new project activity, this looks set to become the first of a new generation of such large melters.
